Become an HPC Champion: build your performance analysis skills, with a funded place at the VI-HPS Tuning Workshop
Applications are now open for the first cohort of HPC Champions, closing 23 November 2026 at 23:59 UK time.
SHAREing and HAI-End have launched HPC Champions, a new initiative to support digital Research Technical Professionals (dRTPs) in developing deeper expertise in specific areas of digital research infrastructure.
The first cohort will focus on Performance Analysis, combining a curated, self-paced learning journey with hands-on training at the 55th VI-HPS Tuning Workshop, hosted at Durham University on 17-20 May 2027.
- Focus of first cohort: Performance Analysis
- Workshop: 55th VI-HPS Tuning Workshop, Durham University, 17-20 May 2027
- Funding: travel and accommodation for the workshop are covered for successful applicants
- Deadline: 23 November 2026 at 23:59 UK time

What the programme involves
Participants will be supported in identifying and addressing gaps in their existing knowledge before the workshop, so that they can make the most of the hands-on training in Durham. Along the way, the programme also provides opportunities to connect with peers and to engage with performance assessment and engineering more broadly.
Who should apply?
The call is particularly aimed at dRTPs who work with, or are preparing to work with, HPC systems and are interested in developing their performance analysis skills. You do not need to be an expert already, as the learning journey is designed to accommodate different starting points.
