Sensitive Data Curation Skills Summit at the UK TRE Conference
HDR UK, together with its partners in the Data Curation Skills for Sensitive Data project, is convening a Skills Summit as part of the UK TRE Conference on 16 November 2026. The summit is aimed at anyone working in or alongside sensitive data skills development, training, and workforce planning across Trusted Research Environments (TREs), Secure Data Environments (SDEs) and Safe Havens.
The project recently published the Sensitive Data Curation Skills Report and a set of Key Recommendations for Stakeholders, which found that skills development in this space is rapidly evolving but highly fragmented, with a clear appetite from practitioners for shared skills frameworks and better access to training. The summit is the next step in turning that evidence into action, and is designed to be used, built on, and extended across the community.
The summit will be an opportunity to:
- share practice in sensitive data curation skills development and training
- shape priorities for the next phase of the project, including the TRE literacy curriculum and Train-the-Trainer model
- align future action across TREs, SDEs, Safe Havens, training providers, funders and governance bodies
