The AICatalyst2026: AI in the Biosciences Training Conference takes place on Friday 4 September 2026, 9:30–16:15, at The Guildhall, York — a medieval venue in the city centre, around a ten-minute walk from York Railway Station.

The conference is organised by the UKRI Digital Research Skills Catalyst with funding support from AIBIO-UK. The programme brings together a mix of expert talks and hands-on workshops designed to introduce AI methods in bioscience research, covering techniques from traditional machine learning through to Large Language Models, applied to a range of biological applications. Attendees can also present their own work through a poster session, with a Poster Prize on offer.

The conference is primarily targeted at PhD and postgraduate researchers in the biological, medical, and environmental sciences, but professionals at all career stages are welcome.

Programme highlights include sessions on:

  • Image visualisation with Napari (UCL)
  • Large Language Models in Bioscience (University of York)
  • AI for agriculture (University of Lincoln)
  • scryptIQ Supervised Learning taster session
  • Funding at the Interface: writing grants for AI and Biosciences research (AIBIO-UK)
  • Galaxy for AI in Bioscience (University of Bradford)
