Addressing the challenges and barriers that biomedical data science teams face will benefit individuals, teams, organisations and help enable better science in the rapidly changing data-driven landscape.

As part of the MRC funded Biomedical Data Science Leadership Awards, all funded projects are working collaboratively to drive an interdisciplinary biomedical data science culture that is visible, equitable, and impactful - giving funders, institutions, and researchers the evidence to drive real change in leadership, collaboration, recognition, and careers across UK biomedical research. This workshop aims to:

  • Build a shared understanding of the current and rapidly changing UK research landscape, including where organizations, funders and industry are heading and how efforts can align around training and career pathways, reward and recognition, equality, diversity and inclusion, cross sector mobility and team science and collaborative research culture.
  • Gather your reflections and perspectives on the community needs and change we are evidencing, including your outlooks on priorities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Co‑produce a first version of a roadmap for actionable change of the research landscape to guide future directions for interdisciplinary biomedical research.
  • Explore stakeholder roles and actions needed to move collectively towards impact.
